ARIA stands for Accessible Rich Internet Applications. It is a new specification from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) designed to provide a mechanism for exposing roles, states, and properties of web pages' user interface elements so that assistive technologies can make rich web interfaces accessible to their users.
